Description

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 medium carrots, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • 2 lbs russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • ½ cup milk or cream
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground meat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Add onions, carrots, and garlic; sauté until softened (about 5 minutes).
  4. Stir in beef broth, thyme, and rosemary; bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. Boil potatoes until tender; drain and mash with milk or cream, butter, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  6. Spread the meat mixture evenly in a baking dish; top with mashed potatoes and create swirls with a fork.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown.
