Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (fresh or dried)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • ½ cup ketchup (divided)
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté chopped onions until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, cooked onions, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and half the ketchup. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat.
  4. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in the greased baking dish.
  5. Spread the remaining ketchup on top for glaze. Bake for about 1 hour or until it reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
  6. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
