Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk (warm)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground cardamom
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk and mix with sugar and yeast. Let sit until frothy (5-10 minutes).
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, salt, melted butter, and activated yeast mixture. Knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place in a greased bowl covered with a damp cloth; let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
  4. Mix sugar, cinnamon, and cardamom; spread softened butter on rolled-out dough before sprinkling the mixture.
  5. Roll tightly into a log; cut into 1-2 inch pieces.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Let rolls rise again for 30 minutes on a lined baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
