- 2 green plantains
- 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 2 tbsp avocado oil (for frying)
- Dipping sauce of choice (garlic aioli or spicy salsa)
Instructions
- Peel the green plantains by cutting off both ends and making shallow cuts along the sides.
- Slice the peeled plantains into thick pieces (1-1.5 inches wide) and soak them in water for 10 minutes.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the plantain slices in a single layer and spray lightly with cooking oil. Air fry for 8-10 minutes until golden.
- Remove from the air fryer, gently flatten each slice to about half an inch thick, and sprinkle with salt.
- Return the smashed plantains to the air fryer for another 5-7 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.
